A Trip Is a Warning

A breaker trips to stop wires from getting too hot. So a trip is the breaker doing its job. However, if it trips again and again, something is wrong.
First, unplug a few things on that circuit and reset the breaker once. If it holds, the circuit was overloaded. If it trips right away, stop and call. That points to a short or a bad part.
The 4 most common causes:
⚡ Too many things on one circuit (overload)
⚡ A short circuit in a wire, outlet or device
⚡ A ground fault, often near water
⚡ An old or worn-out breaker

Quick Answers
⚡ Is it safe to keep resetting a breaker?
No. Reset it once. If it trips again, leave it off and call an electrician. A breaker that keeps tripping is a sign of a real problem.
⚡ Can a breaker go bad?
Yes. Breakers wear out over time. A weak breaker can trip when it shouldn’t, or fail to trip when it should. We test and replace them.
⚡ Why does my breaker trip when I use the microwave?
The microwave may share a circuit with other big loads. A dedicated circuit usually fixes it.

“Brandon was responsive, professional and informative! I’m so thankful he was referred to us for a breaker issue. He not only fixed our issue, but he assured us everything else looked up to par and gave us peace of mind. He even followed up after the fact to insure everything was working properly.”
