Get Ready Before It Arrives

Most hot tubs need a 240V circuit of their own. So call an electrician before the tub shows up. That way, it is ready to fill and run on day one.
The circuit needs GFCI protection to keep people safe. Plus, there must be a shut-off box near the tub, where you can see it. We set all of this up to code.
What a hot tub needs:
⚡ Its own 240V circuit (often 40 to 60 amps)
⚡ GFCI protection
⚡ An outdoor shut-off within sight of the tub
⚡ The right wire size for the distance
⚡ Room in your panel (or an upgrade)

Quick Answers
⚡ Can I plug my hot tub into a normal outlet?
Only small plug-and-play tubs can. Most full-size tubs must be hardwired to a 240V circuit.
⚡ How far can the hot tub be from the panel?
It can be far, but long runs need bigger wire. That adds cost. We check the distance first.
⚡ Should the electrician come before delivery?
Yes. Have the circuit and shut-off ready first. Then the tub can be hooked up as soon as it arrives.
